Universal Business Systems was founded in Sandy, Utah in 1979. Back then, we were installing traditional business phone systems — the kind with physical wiring, big metal cabinets, and a technician who knew every wire by name.
Over the decades we grew with the technology. We moved into VoIP when it matured enough to trust, built our own hosted platform, and started offering business texting when that became something customers needed.
Today we're doing something we couldn't have imagined in 1979 — building AI voice agents that answer calls, take messages, book appointments, and hand off to the right person. But the fundamentals haven't changed: we show up, we do the work right, and we answer the phone when you call.
Universal Business Systems opens its doors installing traditional business phone systems across the Salt Lake Valley.
We transition to Voice over IP — one of the first local companies in Utah to fully embrace the technology.
We build and launch the Voipro platform — our own hosted VoIP and business texting service for Utah businesses.
We add SMS services, AI-generated music on hold, and begin developing Voipro AI — our AI phone receptionist platform.
Our AI phone receptionists are now answering calls for Utah businesses 24/7 — fully integrated with our VoIP platform.
